🧠 How Cancer Develops
As was discussed above, cancer cells develop when the DNA of a healthy cell becomes damaged, causing that cell to mutate. Although genetic weaknesses and predispositions may contribute to the occurrence of cancers, environmental influences such as chemicals, radiation, and viruses are involved most of the time. The liver detoxifies and eliminates many chemicals that might cause cancer. Most traditional anticancer herbal formulas actually help by improving liver function. Paw paw contains compounds called annonaceous acetogenins. These compounds inhibit the production of ATP inside the cell by blocking complex I in the mitochondria. This triggers apoptosis. In other words, paw paw "convinces" cells to self destruct. These acetogenin compounds are found in plants in the Annonaceae family, which contains about 2,100 species of plants, most of which grow in the tropics. Paw paw is the only deciduous member of this family and has one of the highest amounts of these compounds. The amount of acetogens varies widely from plant to plant and even seasonally, but Dr. Jerry McLaughlin was able to create a standardized extract of these substances which can be used for a wide variety of purposes.

One of the main problems with traditional cancer therapies such as radiation and chemotherapy is that they damage healthy cells as well as cancer cells. So, the question naturally arises, if acetogenins block ATP production, wouldn't that affect healthy cells, too? Supplements to be avoided include Co Q10, SOD, Super Antioxidants, Grapine, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Cellular Energy, N-Acetyl Cysteine, Garlic, IGF-1, 7 Keto, Para-Cleanse, TS II and Thyroid Activator.
