Whether you're seeking to maintain wellness or reclaim it, the gastrointestinal (GI) system is at the heart of your journey. Think of your gut as the root system of your body—just as roots anchor and nourish a plant, your intestines connect you to the environment, transforming food and water into the building blocks of life.
🌱 Why the Gut Matters
Your intestines are more than just a digestive tube—they're your primary interface with the outside world. Here, nutrients are absorbed, toxins are eliminated, and immune defenses are activated. In fact, over 60% of your immune system resides in the GI tract, making it your first line of defense against disease.
Unfortunately, dysfunction in this system is linked to a wide range of chronic and degenerative conditions. Traditional healing systems have long emphasized the importance of digestive health and regular elimination. Yet for decades, modern medicine overlooked the gut, favoring the study of the heart, glands, and brain over the “lowly” intestines.
🔬 Science Catches Up
Today, research is validating what ancient wisdom knew all along: intestinal inflammation is a root cause of many health issues, including:
-
Arthritis and autoimmune disorders
-
Allergies and eczema
-
Asthma and certain cancers
-
Mental health conditions like depression, ADHD, and schizophrenia
Even our “gut instincts” have a scientific basis. The intestines contain a vast network of nerves and neurotransmitters—often called the enteric nervous system—that communicate directly with the brain. This brain-gut axis plays a pivotal role in emotional regulation and is deeply involved in conditions like inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
⚠️ When the Gut Is Inflamed
Stress and strong emotions can trigger intestinal distress. When the small intestine becomes inflamed, nutrient absorption falters, leading to conditions such as:
-
Colitis
-
Crohn’s disease
-
Ulcerative colitis
-
Celiac disease
These disorders involve damage to the intestinal mucosa, allowing toxins to leak into the bloodstream—a phenomenon known as leaky gut syndrome. This leakage sets off a cascade of immune reactions that can affect every system in the body.
A Quick Guide to Inflammatory Bowel Disorders (IBD)

Colitis
Colitis is inflammation of the colon and small intestine. Intestinal Soothe and Build and Slippery Elm are very soothing for this condition.
Crohn's Disease
This is a severe form of colitis which causes fistulas to form in the colon. There is atrophy and ulceration of the intestines. In addition to the aforementioned products, more minerals are needed; specifically Mineral Chi Tonic and Magnesium.
Ulcerative Colitis
Similar to Crohn's, except that it starts in the rectum and affects only the colon. Gastro Health and Aloe Vera Juice can be helpful here.
Celiac Disease
A chronic disease that causes breakdown of the intestines due to a gluten allergy. Gluten is a protein found in wheat and other grains such as oats, barley and rye. This requires avoiding gluten foods and taking extra enzymes such as Protease to aid breakdown of foods.
Diverticulitis
Inflammation of pockets in the colon. CLT-X is a soothing combination here.
