What Causes Herpes Outbreaks?
Symptoms of Herpes Simplex
Support with Antiviral Herbs and Supplements

Herpes is a family of viruses that cause a range of infections in humans. Once a herpes virus enters the body, it stays for life, living in nerve cells and occasionally reactivating. While it cannot be eliminated, outbreaks can be managed and minimized with proper care.

🔹 Types of Herpes Viruses

Herpes Simplex Type I (HSV-1)

Commonly known as cold sores, HSV-1 causes painful blister-like lesions that typically appear:

  • Around the lips or mouth
  • On the face
  • Occasionally on the eyes, where it can cause herpetic conjunctivitis

Outbreaks may be triggered by stress, fatigue, or illness and often cause tingling or burning before blisters appear.

Herpes Simplex Type II (HSV-2)

HSV-2 is the sexually transmitted form of herpes. Lesions usually appear in the genital area and may be accompanied by:

  • Fever
  • Swollen lymph nodes
  • Muscle aches

The first outbreak is usually the most uncomfortable and takes about two weeks to heal. Sexual contact should be avoided during outbreaks, especially while lesions are open and oozing, as this is when the virus is most contagious.

HSV-2 can have serious complications, including:

  • Increased risk of cervical cancer in women
  • Severe illness in newborns if transmitted during childbirth (a Cesarean section may be necessary)

After midlife, outbreaks tend to occur less frequently.

Herpes Zoster (Varicella-Zoster Virus)

Another member of the herpes family, this virus causes:

  • Chickenpox in children
  • Shingles in adults (painful rashes following nerve pathways)

⚡ What Causes Herpes Outbreaks?

Both HSV-1 and HSV-2 can spread even when no sores are visible. HSV-1 is usually transmitted through kissing or sharing items like utensils or toothbrushes. HSV-2 spreads primarily through sexual contact.

Outbreaks can be triggered by:

  • General illness or fever
  • Fatigue or lack of rest
  • Physical or emotional stress
  • Weakened immunity (chemotherapy, steroids, or HIV/AIDS)
  • Trauma to the affected area, including sexual activity
  • Menstruation or hormonal changes

Note: Pregnant women with herpes should always consult their doctor, as genital herpes can be transmitted to the baby during childbirth.

⚠️ Symptoms of Herpes Simplex

Herpes usually appears as blisters or clusters of blisters around the:

  • Mouth (cold sores)
  • Genital area
  • Rectum

These blisters break open, leaving painful, tender sores. Oral herpes often starts with tingling or burning sensations before the blisters appear.

💊 Can Herpes Be Cured?

There is no cure for herpes simplex. The virus remains dormant in the body and can reactivate when triggered by stress, illness, or other factors. However, antiviral medications and natural immune support can help control outbreaks, shorten healing time, and reduce transmission risk.

🌿Support with Antivirial Herbs & Supplements

There are many great antiviral remedies one can use to combat viral infections (see below). Herbs that have broad acting activity against viral infections are those that support natural immune function. They boost production of white blood cells and antibodies, strengthen mucus membranes and increase white blood cell activity. This helps the body fight infections of all kinds viral, bacterial and fungal.

Immune Stimulator
The medicinal mushrooms in this formula, cordyceps, reishi and maitake, activate the immune system to fight off bacteria and viruses. The other ingredients, beta-glucans, arabinogalactan and colostrum, also have immune boosting effects. Research suggests that these ingredients can boost white blood cell count and activity, as well as enhancing antibody production.

Immune Stimulator can be helpful for problems as simple as warding off a cold in the early stages or as difficult as dealing with serious infections such as pneumonia.

Use it to strengthen a weakened immune system by taking 1 capsule between meals two or three times daily. For helping to fight acute infections, use 1-2 capsules on an empty stomach every two hours with plenty of water. You can take up to 6-10 capsules per day.

VS-C TCM
To use against the herpes simplex virus. Used for viral infections like sores, canker sores and genital herpes, but also appears to work on the chicken pox virus and shingles.
It is most effective against chronic viral infections that flare up when the body is weak.
Use one capsule two to four times a day.

L-Lysine
Virus-fighting, gland-regulating amino acid I-Lysine is not produced in the body and must be obtained from the diet. It is used to fight fever blisters/cold sores and mouth ulcers (herpes simplex virus).

C-Herb Internal
C-Herb seems to immediately remove the protein shell in which a virus can hide.

Liver Balance TCM
The liver is a major detoxifying organ, breaking down and neutralizing harmful toxic substances. Common sense: When using C-Herb, the immune system will force the body to evacuate a lot of unwanted "toxins" putting an extra burden on the liver. Your liver needs all the help it can get in that situation!

Dermatone Stat
Energique'sDer matone Stat is a homeopathic remedy that supports the detoxification of Herpes simplex 1 & 2 and Herpes Zoster infections.

🌿Testimony

I just read your article on herpes and I wanted to share with you my experience with taking VS-C. I have herpes and I used to get outbreaks all over my lips. I read what information I could find on VS-C and decided to try it for 6 months. I have yet to have another out break since I've stopped taking it. I just wanted to share that. I really enjoy your newsletters by the way! They are very informative.
